Who coaching is for

Coaching is for people who are coping well day to day and want to work on a particular question. It can be a professional question, for example in a leadership role, or an entirely personal one.

I have particular experience with people in roles that carry high responsibility. There, decisions often reach far beyond the person making them, and little time is left for personal questions.

What it can be about

  • Leadership and responsibility: clarifying your role, handling expectations from many sides, preparing difficult conversations.
  • Decisions and career change: staying or leaving, a new profession, a move. We weigh up what matters to you.
  • Stress and balance: setting priorities and regaining energy when work takes up a lot of space.
  • Self-esteem and boundaries: trusting yourself more, saying no more clearly, appearing more confident.
  • Personal development: understanding your own patterns. Using plan analysis, we explore which needs lie behind your reactions. This cannot be counted as the personal therapy (Selbsterfahrung) required in psychotherapy training.
  • Life questions: taking stock, for example in midlife, deciding whether to have children, or coming to terms with regret about past decisions.

How coaching works

  1. First conversation

You describe what brings you, and we clarify whether coaching is the right setting for it.

  2. Goal and scope

We note what we are working on and how you will know it is moving you forward. We agree the length and scope together.

  3. The sessions

We sort through what is on your mind, weigh up options and think through alternatives. Between sessions you try out new approaches in everyday life, at your own pace.

  4. Closing

At the end we look back: what has changed, and what are you taking with you?

Coaching or psychotherapy?

Coaching and psychotherapy have some things in common, but they pursue different aims. Coaching is about a question you want to resolve. Psychotherapy is the right route when the strain you are under is clinically significant, for example with depression or an anxiety disorder.

Because I offer both, we can calmly clarify in our first conversation what suits you. If it only becomes clear later, we talk about it openly.

Framework and confidentiality

A session lasts 50 minutes and costs €170. What you discuss in coaching stays confidential. I pass nothing on without your explicit consent.

Frequently asked questions

How many sessions are usual?

That depends on your question. Some can be resolved in a few sessions, others need more time. We discuss it at the start and adjust it if needed.

Do I need to prepare?

No. It helps if you briefly consider beforehand what should be different after the coaching. A first idea is enough.

Can I come with a personal question?

Yes. My coaching is not limited to work. Deciding whether to have children or taking stock in midlife also have a place here.

What if it turns out I need psychotherapy instead?

Then we talk about it openly and consider together which route suits you now.

Is coaching possible online?

Yes, via a secure video connection. You do not need an account for the video session; I send you the link in advance.

Is there a guarantee that coaching will help?

No, nobody can honestly promise that. What I can offer is a clear framework, honest feedback and regular check-ins on whether you are making progress.

At the practice or online

We meet at my practice in Berlin-Pankow, right on the border with Prenzlauer Berg, or online via a secure video connection, for example if getting to the practice does not fit into your day.
