In couples therapy the three of us look at your relationship: at what has become difficult between you, and at what you both wish for. Each of your perspectives is given equal room.
Couples come for very different reasons. Some have been stuck for a long time, others are facing a turning point. Common reasons include:
You do not have to wait until nothing works any more. Couples therapy is also a good place if you simply want to look after your relationship.
As a licensed psychological psychotherapist, I take a clarification-oriented approach to couples therapy. This means we first understand what lies behind your conflicts. Often these are needs that neither of you puts into words, such as the need for recognition, reliability or room of your own.
Earlier experiences also shape how each of you reads the other's behaviour. Once you understand what is going on for your partner, it becomes easier to say clearly what you want and to find compromises you can both live with.
Not every difference can be resolved. Sometimes it is about accepting some things as they are. I do not take sides.
You tell me what brings you here and what you hope for. Together we decide whether couples therapy is the right way forward.
We start with what is weighing on you right now and look at the needs and experiences behind it.
In structured exercises you learn to see things from the other person's point of view, to express your own wishes clearly and to negotiate compromises.
After a few sessions we look together at what has changed and how to continue.
A session lasts 75 minutes, which leaves enough time for both of you to be heard. The fee is expected to be €210.
I recommend one session a week or every two weeks. We agree the rhythm together to suit your situation.
Statutory health insurance in Germany does not cover couples therapy, and private insurers usually do not reimburse it either.
Joint couples therapy only works if you both want to come. You can, however, come on your own at first and explore what you want and what you yourself can contribute.
No. My attention is on both of you and on what happens between you.
Couples therapy is open-ended. The aim is not to stay together at any price, but to reach a decision you can both stand behind. If you do separate, couples therapy can help you go about it as respectfully as possible, especially if there are children.
That depends on what brings you. We discuss it at the start and check in along the way on where you stand. I recommend one session a week or every two weeks.
Yes. You sit together in front of one device, in a quiet room where you will not be disturbed. Please let me know by email that you would like to meet online, even if you booked via Doctolib, and I will send you the link in advance.
If one of you experiences violence or is afraid of the other, joint couples therapy is not the right setting. Please contact me on your own first. If you are in immediate danger, you will find help under In an acute crisis.

We meet at my practice in Berlin-Pankow, right on the border with Prenzlauer Berg, or via a secure video link. Online, you sit together in front of one device. Please send me a short email beforehand, even if you booked via Doctolib, so that you receive the link in advance.

To book via Doctolib you need a free Doctolib account. If you would rather not create one, request your first appointment through my booking page or send me an email.
The practice works by appointment only: your appointment is reserved for you. If you cannot make it, please cancel at least 12 hours in advance. If you cancel later than this or miss an appointment, I charge a cancellation fee. If you booked via Doctolib, cancel there directly so that the slot becomes available again.
The practice is on the third floor, and unfortunately there is no lift. Please come at the agreed time so that you do not have to wait and sessions in progress are not disturbed. If you are early, there are cafés nearby.
From the Prenzlauer Allee/Ostseestraße stop it is a 2- to 3-minute walk. Trams M2, M13 and 12 and bus 156 stop there. The M2 takes you to Alexanderplatz in about 15 minutes. The nearest S-Bahn station is Prenzlauer Allee (S41, S42, S8, S85), about 12 minutes on foot or 2 stops on the M2.
Book the first session via Doctolib, request it without a Doctolib account via my booking page (in German), or email me.
